One of the most popular game developer with feather of franchise’s like Grand theft auto and red dead redemption in it’s cap, Rockstar games stated that 5% of their total gathered revenue from their in game purchases of grand theft auto (GTA) Online and Red Dead online will be donated for world pandemic COVID-19 relief funds.
Rockstar game’s GTA 5 online since its launch on 1st October 2013 has made the parent company a fortune of nearly US$ 815 million by selling over 11.21 million copies worldwide in a single day.
On the other hand Red dead redemption being the developer’s second latest release to Red dead online reached new heights in the gaming entertainment industry by becoming the second-biggest launch in the history generating $725 million in sales from its opening weekend and exceeding the lifetime sales in two weeks.
Both the games RED DEAD ONLINE and GTA ONLINE require the user to make in game purchases and are one of the most profitable releases for the developers. the games are constantly updated with new in games activities which have made the players stick to them even after such a long time .
Rockstar games didn’t state in what manner or to whom the donation will be made, how ever they made the announcement through their twitter handle about donating the gathered revenue from 1st April to around May end for both GTA ONLINE and RED DEAD ONLINE.
The developer was also expected to provide some revelation pre-pandemic about their much awaited sequel to the Grand Theft Auto franchise the GTA-6. However no further information was given by the developer in those regards.
