There has been a new phenomenon plaguing the world of Pro Street Fighter 5. Players of the game are being banned by the developer, Capcom for their offensive comments.
It has to be said even when paid eSports stars cannot contain their mouths. It gets very difficult.
Tournaments such as EVO have existed for a long period. Since the beginning, Street Fighter has been at the front seat of such tournaments. Now, we all know how much hard work and patience it takes to become a good professional player.
When you take the example of a professional eSports player, the hard work is twice as much. Hence, it is paining to see people throwing away these on bouts of emotional immaturity.
So, what happened?
Recently, Capcom’s official esports official account on Twitter announced that players Dalauan Sparrow and Christina Tran – better known as LowTierGod and Ceroblast by peer and fans – have each been globally banned from all of Capcom’s “tournaments and events in locations throughout the world.” which includes Pro Street Fighter 5.
Now, we all want to know the reason behind such a decision. As it was announced by the developer that they were banned for making offensive statements online while playing the game.
Both of them were in a match and one of them lost to another. Later, it was revealed that one of them giving out a transphobic rant to another.
It was later found that the other player was also ranting racial slurs to the other. Now, we have not mentioned the name of parties and who said what.
It is because we do not want to get into the melodrama of what happened. But the proof is pretty apparent and should not be treated with mercy.
It is then we say that the response of Capcom is well-deserved. They have both received a ban for an indefinite period which will stay for this year and beyond on Pro Street Fighter 5. So, both of these players should bid farewell to their careers in the eSports industry.
We have to say that gaming, especially multiplayer is brought to bring harmony and understanding between individuals and it is reprehensible that people are using it for spreading hate.
