What’s the story all about?
This movie is based on a real-life story. The Chicago seven consists of seven defendants-Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Rennie Davis, David Dellinger, John Froines, Tom Hayden, and Lee Weiner. They were charged for conspiracy in 1969 and 1970 by the federal government for their involvement in the anti-Vietnam war and other protests that took place at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
Its trailer shows how Sorkin made it relevant to make the ’60s-set story reflect today’s protest movement. In a Vanity Fair interview, Sorkin highlighting the close resemblance between the Chicago Seven trial and today via an image from protestors outside the trial holding placards reading “American Love It or Leave It,” “What About White Civil Rights?”, and “Lock Them Up!”
