The Kenyan film director-producer Wanuri Kahiu best known for her dramatic film ‘From A Whisper’ is all set for her new project that is ‘On The Come Up’.
‘On The Come Up’ is the second novel by Angie Thomas sharing the same universe with ‘The Hate U Give’.

In an interview, she confessed that her goal is to throw the light on reality and to break all types of stereotypes.

‘On The Come Up’ is the second novel by Angie Thomas with Publisher Balzer + Bray and with the same concept but in a fresh style. In the novel, a 16-year-old girl Bri wants to become the world’s best rapper. Her father was also a hip-hop legend but died soon after a big hit. With the harsh circumstances in her life when her mother also loses her job, she put out all her emotional outrage in a song and shared it in social media. The video went viral and also landed in some controversies. How she will make out of it? How she will fulfil her dream of becoming a hip-hop legend like her father? Initially the director of ‘The Hate U Give’ George Tillman Jr. was to direct the adaptation of ‘On The Come Up’ but now it is official news that Wanuri Kahiu will direct the film.
