We are all up to date with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce drama. But guess what? We have the latest news for you about the ongoing trial between the celebrity divorced couple.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Relationship Timeline
The former couple met in 2009 on the sets of The Rum Diary. After things ended between Depp and Vanessa Paradis, Amber came into his life, and they started dating. It was not until January 2014 the couple made their first appearance as a couple in a Gala. People reported that a few days later, the couple was engaged.
On February 5, 2015, we got the news that Depp and Amber exchanged vows on Depp’s private island in the Bahamas. The honeymoon phase was, though, short-lived as trouble came in paradise as soon as they got married. More bad news arrived in March 2015 when Depp accidentally cut off his finger, and instead of seeking immediate medical attention, he dipped his finger in paint. He wrote “Billy Bob Easy Amber,” implying that Amber cheated on him on the sets of London Fields with Billy Bob Thorton.
Fifteen months after saying “I do,” Heard filed for divorce under “irreconcilable differences” and also later filed a temporary restraining order against Depp. A judge ordered him to stay 100 yards away from Amber and not contact her in any way.
Latest Lawsuit between Amber and Depp
Depp and his legal team filed a 50 million dollar suit against his ex-wife in March 2019 under a defamation lawsuit. This lawsuit is based on Amber stating in Washington Post in December 2018 about suffering from domestic violence and that she is a victim. Depp claims that because of this, he was dropped from his very famous role and the Disney franchise of the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Earlier this month, Depp requested for the trial to be delayed because the dates were conflicting with his Fantastic Beasts film, and wanted the shot to date between March and June 2021. On the other hand, Amber said that if his wish were granted, it would clash with her upcoming movie Aquaman 2.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Trial latest News
Even though the Depp request was canceled, the trial till got delayed, and it is not for the reason you guess. The world is standing still because of the global pandemic, and that is the very reason why this trial is also at a standstill.
A jury trial is still a no go in the state of Virginia, and the trial date is pushed to May 3, 2021. This delay is perfect for Depp because of the date conflicts with his upcoming movie Fantastic Beasts 3. So his wish got granted one way or another.
