About the movie

New movies from the world of “ Dr Seuss ” — “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” and “The Cat in the Hat” spinoff “Thing One and Thing Two” — are in the development process from Warner Animation Group.

J.J. Abrams is coming up with an adaptation of the classic children’s book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”  by  Bad Robot Productions. Bad Robot’s head of motion pictures, Hannah Minghella is also the producer.

The 1990 book about a kid who seeks fun adventures was the final Theodor Geisel story to be published in his lifetime. It was also the last of his tales that many young readers receive, mostly as a graduation gift. It will be the first animation project by  J.J. Abrams. He signed on to produce the classic movie with  Hannah Minghella.

The two other films coming up are the new animated version of The Cat in the Hat and Thing One and Thing Two. The three movies are said to be the start of a Seuss universe,  according to the crew members putting together these projects, who outlined the mentioned details exclusively for Vanity Fair.

Confirmation

The announcement came up after two years when Warner Animation Group and Dr Seuss Enterprises had disclosed their partnership based on the children’s books by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known by his pen name, Dr Seuss on Thursday.

More Information

Previous animated films by Seuss, like 2008’s Horton Hears a Who! from Fox’s Blue Sky Studios, or 2012’s The Lorax and 2018’s The Grinch from Universal’s Illumination studios were side by side projects. This new partnership with Warner Bros. is focusing at creating a steady stream of new Seuss projects for the screen.

First in line is, The Cat in the Hat, planned for 2024. It is now signed directors Erica Rivinoja, best-known writer-producer on South Park, and Art Hernandez, a veteran Disney story artist who has earlier worked on Planes and the Tinker Bell movies. The Seuss universe will be connected by its style and theme, rather than character or storyline crossover.
