In light of these developments, we have another eSports announcement. So, without further adieu let’s look at the new developments in Overwatch tournament.
Overwatch has announced that it will be introducing a new structure of the tournament. The new format of the tournament will have the first three weeks of May being used for elimination and group stage matches. Then, the last week of May will be used for the final match while the last three days will have the championship rounds. The winner would be designated as the Tournament champion. This has the fans excited as we’re dying to see some eSports action.
There will be two tournaments that will be running simultaneously. One will be running for North America and one for Asia. They are broken up not the on the region they belong to but on the basis of where their physical presence is.
The total prize pool will be $125,000 in North America and $100,000 in Asia. First-place teams at the end of the tournament in North America and Asia will receive $40,000 respectively. Second place earns $20,000, and the third and fourth place will receive $5,000. On top of that, each team will receive $5,000 per win.
This tournament will also lead to many financial repercussions for the teams. It will also lead to end of the season ranking of the various teams. Needless to say, there is a lot of competition for these ranks and players do a lot. Even the winnings of the team will be calculated towards the end of the seasons.
All the players in the tournament will have access to the heroes of the game. It is because the hero pools of the game have been suspended for the time being.
